They started on a bright sunny morning, the frost still on the ground and the old shingles an icy slide for the inexperienced. With skill and hard work the new red roof made great progress, so a lunch break was easily justified. Lots of good banter, homemade bread to help clean the bowls of chilli, and back to work. Ugh! Power went off while we weren’t looking! (Or rather while our faces were in the trough.)
So the day stuttered and the roof waited until tomorrow to get done. Tomorrow was far from bright and sunny. Still cold but wreathed in mist and fog. Lucky for the gallery, the guys turned up and finished the job.
And what a great job they made of it.
