Looking slightly surprised to be spotted in the gallery this week is this weathered gargoyle. The South West Nova Gargoyle has recently been added to the local endangered species list, so to find one perched in the gallery was a wonderful bonus.
Local expert Cheryl Stone identified it as a Keeper Gargoyle, a very rare subspecies, and the only example to have been seen in recent years. Cheryl, an artist living near Bear River, urged anyone who wanted to see this unique creature to go along to Kempt Lake Gallery soon. ‘The old records suggest these beautiful but shy creatures can disappear as quickly as they arrive,’ she said.
